Daniel is the CEO of Pressto – a writing instructional software for K-8 teachers.

Pressto is a first-to-market environment for schools to teach writing & cognitive thinking, using generative AI. These skills apply across all subject areas for all types of writing. For everything kids write in & out of school, Pressto uses “Blocks” which represent the different components for a particular writing purpose. In education terms, this is ’scaffolding.’ Here’s an article from Forbes and Business Insider - a peek into how Pressto uses generative AI to create writing prompts, lesson plans, vocab and feedback that are customized to student’s interests.

“I would say that I’ve always found Williamsburg to be more or less a neighborhood to hang out—never really my favorite place to live,” Daniel Stedman says. “It just became too much of a zoo too quickly to have a family and walk the dog and take deep breaths.”

SOHO HOUSE

A Conversation with Soho House

Brooklyn-based The L Magazine celebrated it’s cocktail themed issue with an evening of drinks at the Pool House last week.  Here's a conversation with founder Daniel Stedman.

VILLAGE VOICE

We believe that Brooklyn is this international word that stands for what’s next, and that means art, culture, and music—but what’s almost surpassing all of that is food.
— Daniel Stedman, Village Voice, Aug 2013

Bushwick Daily

Two brothers, Scott and Daniel Stedman co-founded The L Magazine back in 2003 from their loft bedroom and had a fabulous 12-year run with it. In 2011, they added a glossy quarterly publication dedicated to the cultural exploration of our borough, Brooklyn Magazine, which was followed by a similarly successful eponymous website. Summer Screen and Northside Festival were just cherries on top of what Scott Steadman calls "a community building company."

In June, the company has announced that it has been acquired (for cash and equity) by Los Angeles company, Zealot Networks. The Stedmans remain in the leadership of Northside Media Group and with the resources now available to them now, they embarked on a new journey. Besides the monthly Brooklyn Magazine, Northside Festival is preparing to go international (whoa!) and their innovation meetup has expanded to Miami and Chicago (whoa whoa!). The L Magazine will continue only online, and from what we gather, Brooklyn Magazine will partially overtake its most popular themes and features such as the best of Brooklyn in this September issue.
